Why signing Andre Ayew could be the key to Swansea’s survival

Swans bidding to re-sign Ghanaian ace
Swansea City’s Premier League status is very precarious now. Carlos Carvalhal’s men did beat Liverpool last week, but remain bottom of the table and three points from safety.
However, things could all change within the next 72 hours. That’s because Carvalhal is battling to secure a deal to sign former Swans star Andre Ayew from West Ham United before the window closes.
They may be 4/9 favourites for relegation as it stands, but the Coral News Team think everything could change if they get their hands on the Ghanaian. Here’s why…
He’s been the difference-maker for them before
The winger may have only spent a season at the Liberty Stadium – in 2015-16 – but he more than made his mark during that campaign.
Ayew netted 12 goals from the wing for the South Wales club, many of those coming in crucial situations. That included winning goals against the likes of Aston Villa, Everton and Liverpool.
While he’s only on six for the Irons this term – with starts hard to come by – he’s still recorded some vital goals in the Prem as well as in the Hammers’ morale-boosting EFL Cup run.
If he were to add even a few extra goals to the Swans’ cause, it could make all the difference.
Swans’ strikers in dire need of service
On paper, Carvahal has a talented bunch of strikers on his books. Among them are the lively Tammy Abraham, the experienced Wilfried Bony and Andre’s clinical brother Jordan Ayew.
However, Swansea have scored a meagre 15 goals from their 24 league games thus far – four fewer than any other side in the division.
The issue is a lack of creativity, ambition and energy on the wing. Between them, wing trio Luciano Narsingh, Nathan Dyer and Wayne Routledge are yet to produce a single assist in all competitions – despite a combined 46 outings this term.
Can Ayew brothers reunite to great effect?
At both club and international level, Andre and Jordan Ayew have linked-up to great effect. And the stats suggest they would do so once again at the Liberty, if this move goes through.
Both men featured in Olympique Marseille’s Ligue 1 title triumph in 2009-10, as well as a stunning cup streak which saw the club win three successive Coupe de la Ligue trophies.
Time and again, Andrew was the provider for his younger brother for both L’OM and the pair’s national side, Ghana. If the pair end up re-creating their partnership at Swansea, it could well give the whole side a lift.
Swansea City host Arsenal on Tuesday night. There’s 6/1 on offer for the Swans to secure a vital victory, while the home side are 17/10 in the Double Chance market. Meanwhile, Abraham to Score Anytime could prove a smart call at 5/2.
