When does the transfer window close across Europe?

Key window dates across the continent

Europe’s top clubs are gearing up for a frantic end to the transfer window. Plenty of business has already been done across the continent. But you can be sure there’s more yet to come. 

The Premier League won’t be part of the fun, though. The league announced in September 2017 that the transfer window in the English top-flight will close early this year on 9^th August.

That means no club will be able to sign players from a rival at home or abroad after this date. But that doesn’t mean foreign clubs can’t sign players from England. And with that in mind, the Coral News Team has checked out when the window closes across the rest of Europe.

Scottish Premiership

Scottish and English clubs regularly do business with each other. So managers north of the border will be relieved to have an extra three weeks, to conclude business with their top-flight counterparts.

That’s because the Scottish transfer window doesn’t end until the 31^st August. You can be sure Rangers, led by ex-Liverpool man Steven Gerrard, will make full use of the extended time period.

Serie A

Much like the Premier League, Italy’s clubs have also seen fit to bring their transfer window forward, albeit in not such a radical way. Serie A and B clubs have until 6pm on Friday 17^th August to get their signings nailed down, in readiness for the start of the league season the following day. Serie C teams have eight days longer until Saturday 25^th August to complete their business.

Bundesliga

German clubs have opted to stick with their current system, which means the Bundesliga window will not close until 5pm BST on Friday 31^st August. Will Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund et al make a late raid on the Premier League?

La Liga

Chelsea fans will have to worry a little longer over the sale of Eden Hazard, as the La Liga transfer window doesn’t close until 10:59pm BST on Friday 31^st August. The winter window reopens in January.

Ligue 1

France remain in tune with Spain and Germany, with their window not slamming shut until 10:59pm on Friday 31^st August. Giannelli Imbula and Papy Djilobodji both moved across the Channel on-loan 12 months ago. Who will go this time?

Turkish Super Lig

Premier League and Super Lig clubs have done plenty of business down the years. So, top-flight managers will have firm eyes on the Turkish window shutting on Friday 31^st August. Andre Ayew, David Ospina and Vincent Janssen have all been linked with a move to the country in recent weeks.

Eredivisie 

The Eredivisie falls in line with much of the rest of Europe and will shut its doors on Friday 31^st August. Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV Eindhoven are the three big hitters who will look to take most advantage.

Russian Premier League

The Russian Premier League is also not averse to doing deals with the English top-flight and will cease summer trading on Friday 31^st August.
