What will Alexis Sanchez bring to Manchester United?

Three things the Chilean takes to Old Trafford

Alexis Sanchez eventually signed on the dotted line for Manchester United to much fanfare.

After a protracted move involving the two Manchester giants, it was finally Jose Mourinho who got his man.

The deal saw the Chilean forward arrive at Old Trafford with Henrikh Mkhitaryan moving in the opposite direction to Arsenal.

United were so eager to gazump their rivals, they made Sanchez their highest-paid player.

But what exactly will the former Barcelona forward bring to Man United? The Coral News Team takes a closer look…

Flexibility

Alexis Sanchez is a hugely-talented footballer in many different positions across the front-line.

He is not constrained by one position in the manner that someone like Zlatan Ibrahimovic is.

The Chilean is equally adept in a wing forward position, at number ten, or as a central striker. Simply put, he is a goalscorer wherever he plays.

Star power

Sanchez is a statement signing. The double Copa America winner is one of the best players in the world in his position.

Mourinho wanted him primarily for that reason – but also for the optics. Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world and they mean business.

The addition of the 29-year-old signifies to the rest of Europe that United will be feared – on the pitch, and in the transfer market.

Youngsters can learn from him

Man United are blessed with some gifted young players – particularly in attack. However, as precocious as they are, they cannot be expected to carry the team to Champions League glory.

And that is ultimately what the club’s aim is this season and beyond. Alexis Sanchez is a big-match player with huge experience.

He has won three league titles in three different countries including Spain’s La Liga. In addition, he also has two FA Cup medals to call his own with Arsenal.

When it comes to the biggest games, United’s youngsters can rely on Sanchez to take the pressure off.
