West Brom v West Ham betting tips: Hammers still have hope
Published:Preview and odds for Wednesday’s game
West Ham’s Champions League dream may have fallen by the wayside but they still have plenty of incentive to try and end the season on a high.
The Hammers need four points from their final two games to break the club’s record Premier League points tally and a Europa League place remains a possibility ahead of the clash with relegated West Brom and a reunion with former manager Sam Allardyce.
Wednesday’s match is live on Sky Sports and kicks off at 8.15pm as we highlight a few potential West Brom v West Ham betting tips.
West Brom v West Ham match odds
West Ham certainly have more motivation to maintain their focus in the final week of the season and are 8/13 for victory at The Hawthorns.
West Brom proved they have not put their feet up just yet when they were seconds away from holding Liverpool to a 1-1 draw, only to be denied by goalkeeper Alisson Becker’s dramatic winner for the Reds.
Three of Albion’s five wins this season have come in their last 11 games having improved under Sam Allardyce and the Baggies are 17/4 to win their final home match or 16/5 to earn a point.
They have been much improved in front of goal recently, scoring in six of their last seven matches, so both teams to score may appeal at 8/13 especially with West Ham having gone nine matches without a clean sheet.
West Brom v West Ham head-to-head
West Ham certainly have recent history on their side in this fixture having lost just one of the last nine Premier League meetings, although they were also beaten by West Brom in the FA Cup last season.
The Hammers came out on top 2-1 in the two most recent league encounters, including in January when Michail Antonio grabbed the decisive goal.
West Ham took the lead through Jarrod Bowen just before half-time but were pegged back by Matheus Pereira early in the second half before Antonio struck in the 66th minute.
A third successive 2-1 win for West Ham in this fixture is 7/1 while the visitors are 31/20 to again be leading at both half-time and full-time.
Previous XI
West Ham: Fabianski, Cresswell, Coufal, Dawson, Ogbonna, Rice, Lingard, Fornals, Bowen, Soucek, Antonio.
Team news
West Brom have no fresh injury worries but are missing former Hammers winger Robert Snodgrass (back) and Branislav Ivanovic (hamstring).
West Ham will still be without Manuel Lanzini. The attacker is struggling with a thigh injury and is unlikely to play again this season.
Key battles
Antonio was the West Ham hero in January and needs one more goal to reach double figures for the season.
The pacey frontman bagged a brace at Burnley earlier this month and is the 7/2 favourite to open the scoring here or 13/10 just to be on the scoresheet.
West Brom have lacked that kind of goalscorer this season but Wales striker Hal Robson-Kanu (pictured) broke his duck for the season against Liverpool and is 16/5 to add to his tally.
Sadly there are no odds available for West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski to repeat Alisson’s heroics for Liverpool!
