We’ve had a hugely significant weekend in sport with Grand Slam tennis at Wimbledon coming to a thrilling conclusion, elite flat horse racing and the Euro 2016 final.

The three-day July Festival at Newmarket reached a thrilling climax with the eponymous July Cup and prestigious heritage handicap race, the Bunbury Cup…
Limato lands July Cup for Candy
As one of two Group 1 races across the three days at Newmarket, the July Cup is the centrepiece of the Festival, and Henry Candy’s Limato delivered when sent off favourite.
He beat David O’Meara French raider Sudeois by two lengths with the Ontoawinner Syndicate-owned Quiet Reflection a head behind in third.
Dettori takes Golden Steps towards Bunbury Cup
Any horse Frankie Dettori is riding always proves popular with punters and Marco Botti’s Golden Steps paid off if you backed him for the Bunbury Cup, with a three-quarters-of-a-length success over Richard Fahey entrant Heaven’s Guest.
UFC
Current WWE wrestling superstar Brock Lesnar made a special one-off return to the octagon to compete at UFC 200, beating Mark Hunt by unanimous decision in a heavyweight contest.
The Beast Incarnate will feature in a main event match of SummerSlam, WWE’s third-longest running PPV event, where Lesnar will battle Randy Orton for the first time in a major storyline with The Viper.

Serena goes level with Graf’s Open Era record
A year-long wait to win a 22nd tennis Major for WTA world number one Serena Williams ended with a hugely competitive 7-5 6-3 win over ladies’ singles final opponent and fourth seed Angelique Kerber.
Sensational Serena is now level with Steffi Graf’s Open Era record of 22 individual Grand Slam titles, and the American will now have her sights set on eclipsing Margaret Court’s all-time marker of 24.
Williams sisters warm up for Rio Olympics with women’s doubles delight
Joined by elder sibling Venus, Serena returned to Centre Court for a victorious ladies’ doubles triumph over Timea Babos of Hungary and Kazakhstani partner Yaroslava Shvedova.
The Williams sisters don’t often enter Grand Slam doubles tournaments these days but, with the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janiero just around the corner, they warmed up nicely for further tilts at summer success here, romping to victory 6-3 6-4.
Murray reigns again with second success in men’s singles
Red-hot favourite Andy Murray won his third Grand Slam title, beating Milos Raonic 6-4 7-6 7-6 to regain the Wimbledon crown he won in 2013. Can Great Britain’s Murray build on his latest Major success at the US Open later this summer?
Watson wins mixed doubles title
Another Briton, Heather Watson also secured Grand Slam glory with a straight sets mixed doubles victory with partner Henri Kontinen of Finland over Robert Farah (Colombia) and Anna-Lena Gronefeld (Germany).
Formula 1: Silverstone Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton won at his home British GP for a fourth time and third in succession, becoming the first person ever to do so at the Silverstone Circuit.
The Englishman led from the start to claim a fourth victory in five races this season, which now puts him just one point behind Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg in the Drivers’ Championship standings, after the German was given a 10-second penalty.
Euro 2016 final: Portugal thwart hosts France
Despite Cristiano Ronaldo’s early injury, Portugal denied Euro 2016 hosts and pre-tournament favourites France with an extra-time victory. Replacement striker Eder – a flop with Swansea City in British football this past season – scored the winner to break Les Bleus hearts.
