Selected odds and tips for today’s games

The US Open is in full swing now as we reach the second round of both the Men’s and Women’s draws.

Ahead of the games this evening, the Coral News Team serve up some tips and insights for your betting pallet.

Fernando Verdasco to beat Andy Murray – 6/5

Andy Murray is back in Grand Slam action after a lengthy comeback from a major hip injury. And there are still plenty of concerns whether the British legend is back to his old self.

The Spaniard is certainly no mug, and comes in at number 32 in the ATP rankings. The heat could also play a factor here, too.

Murray has already survived a scare against James Duckworth in the previous round. And his journey could come to an end this evening.

Denis Kudla (+6.5 Games) v Juan Martin del Potro – 11/8

Juan Martin del Potro is having a fantastic season on the ATP circuit and in Grand Slam events.

The Argentine number one has made it to the semi-finals of the French Open and the quarters of Wimbledon. And he’s fancied to go far here at Flushing Meadows.

However, he could have a bit of a battle on his hands against home favourite, Denis Kudla. The 72-ranked American is unlikely to beat Del Potro. But he can keep it reasonably close.

Venus Williams to beat Camila Giorgi – Evens

Former world number one Venus Williams is in the midst of her 20th US Open campaign. And she faces a tough second round clash against hard-hitting Italian Camila Giorgi.

However, Williams has won her last 13 Grand Slam second round matches. Not to mention the fact that she’ll be roared on by the home crowd.

The last time the pair met, Williams came out on top 2-1 in sets back in 2015 at the Australian Open. Giorgi has improved no end since then. But Williams still has the talent to prevail once more here.

Ana Bogdan v Karolina Pliskova – Over 2.5 Sets – 11/8

Karolina Pliskova will be looking to make the final at Flushing Meadows once again this year. But she could face another tough battle against Romania’s Ana Bogdan here.

Bogdan is yet to make it past the second round of this Slam. But the 83-ranked ace has steadily improved her game this season.

Pliskova has been a little out of form recently and lost three of her last six matches on hard court post-Wimbledon.

Bogdan is likely to fall at this hurdle. But she can certainly give Pliskova another mini-scare having been taken 1hr and 35m in the previous round.
