Warriors, Rhinos & Giants feature early in Super League Round 14
Published:After a Millennium Magic weekend that left us all spellbound, it is a return to normality as the usual weekly fixture schedule kicks back in. Coral take a look at the first three matches of Super League round 14.
Ex-Wigan back-row Harrison Hansen could haunt his former club after spending nine years at the champions, and was an influential part of the Warriors double winning team in 2013. Set to line up for home town club Salford, he is 3/1 to score at anytime. The Red Devils haven’t had the best of starts to the campaign, and sit in 11th following heavy recruitment in the close-season. The Warriors, in fourth, have taken 18 points from 12 matches and are just three points behind top spot.
The Giants go into this game off the back of five straight wins and are in the ascendency. They beat Bradford 54-16 last time out; nine different try scorers getting in on the act. Danny Brough, who added all the extras, including to his own, is 9/4 to cross the whitewash at anytime. Saints’, however have won just two from their last five, and were shocked by Warrington in Cardiff, who have had an indifferent start to the season themselves. In their ranks though, they possess the top try scorer in the Super League. Tommy Makinson’s 14-try haul is one of the reasons why they sit second in the standings just one point off top spot. The centre has odds of 6/1 to open the scoring.
If the Saints were shocked, then the Rhinos were rocked in the Cardiff sunshine. Talisman Kevin Sinfield’s inability to convert all three tries proved the difference, as they went down 18-14 to Wigan. FC forfeited city bragging rights as they lost to fierce rivals Hull KR, and will be looking for a respectable performance against table toppers Leeds. Winger Ryan Hall, who is just one try behind Makinson, is 5/1 to breach the in-goal area first, and odds-on at 4/9 to do so at anytime.
