Scott Gemmill and Gary Caldwell in the mix too

Walter Smith is the 3/1 favourite for the Scotland job after reports that the 69-year-old is being lined up for a shock return to the national side.

Current U21 boss Scott Gemmill is the 7/2 second favourite and Gary Caldwell, formerly of Wigan and Chesterfield, who announced over the weekend that he has applied for the position is next at 9/2.

Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead said: “Caldwell’s made no secret of his desire to be the next Scotland manager but the betting over the last 48 hours suggests that Smith could be given the opportunity to return to the post he left eleven years ago.”

Scotland are 4/6 to be promoted from their Nations League group, League C, where they face Israel and Albania.
