Twitter reacts to Allardyce’s first England game
It’s been the international break hogging the headlines this week, with nations aiming to make strong starts in their bid to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, including England.
Sam Allardyce was in the Three Lions dugout for the first time since succeeding Roy Hodgson in the summer, as he looked to make an impact in their opening Group F clash with Slovakia.
So, following the action from the World Cup qualifying meeting on Sunday evening, Coral bring you the best online Twitter reaction from a game that failed to set pulses racing…
Slovakia v England Twitter round-up
Despite being shunned by new Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola and departing to Torino on loan, Joe Hart retained his spot as England’s number one under Allardyce, even after some pre-match whispers…

Just 13 seconds into Allardyce’s reign and hopes were already sky high. They’re 16/1 with Coral to go all the way in Russia if you’re as confident!

Following a dull opening 30 minutes, England fans voiced their opinions, as they saw little change from Euro 2016…

England players just aren't that good. Need to stop thinking we are anything better than average

If England can keep this up and hold on for a draw in Slovakia we should be in great shape to qualify. #honeymoontweet

at those people who blamed Hodgson for all #England's woes & thought it would change with a new manager! #SLOvENG pic.twitter.com/5K1rZQDDux

The second-half started pretty much the same, but a little wishful thinking was needed…
Don't worry it'll be the Big Sam effect. We'll win from a deflected header via a long throw on the 82nd minute. #433 #England

Skrtel had been skating on very thin ice after being booked and it took a horrific challenge from the Slovakia skipper to finally get sent off…

Although, with just seconds remaining, Adam Lallana managed to squeeze free and fire in his first ever senior goal for England to hand Allardyce a winning start…
Rose's cross falls to Lallana, whose left-foot shot squirms between Kozacik's legs and dribbles over the line.

Great moment for Lallana. He's waited a long time for that. Not sure England deserved it but he certainly did.

A far from impressive performance from England but three World Cup qualifying nonetheless for Big Sam!
