Hull City 2-1 Leicester City
A managerless club that’s made no summer signings and had 13 fit senior players beating the defending Premier League champions?
Yep, that’s what the Tigers did to the Foxes under the caretaker stewardship of Mike Phelan. While Robert Snodgrass scored the winner, it was tough to credit who grabbed the opener: Abel Hernandez or Adama Diomande?

Riyad Mahrez scored a penalty at the KC Stadium for Leicester, and his influence on Claudio Ranieri’s men remains:

Manchester City 2-1 Sunderland
Sergio Aguero’s penalty and a Paddy McNair own goal on his debut gave Pep Guardiola a winning start to life at Man City, despite Jermain Defoe briefly bringing Sunderland level.
The big team news saw Joe Hart dropped, and Yaya Toure not even involved:

Bournemouth 1-3 Manchester United
Jose Mourinho followed up winning the Community Shield by steering Man Utd to a handsome away win at Bournemouth.
After that substitution spat at Wembley, what irony that it was Juan Mata who opened the scoring…

Arsenal 3-4 Liverpool
If some games still had that early season feel, then the wide open encounter between the Gunners, without a senior centre back, and Liverpool certainly wasn’t one of them.
Theo Walcott grabbed the opener for the hosts, only to see Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana strike either side of half-time to turn this game on its head.
Coutinho then netted again with Sadio Mane joining him for the Merseysiders. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Calum Chambers later added some respectability to the scoreline for Arsene Wenger at the Emirates. He won’t have been deaf to the boos at the final whistle, though.

It then took less than five minutes after half-time for Lallana to complete the turnaround for Liverpool:
