Fulham steal the show on Deadline day
With the Premier League starting only three weeks after the World Cup final, deadline day was always going to be a busy one.
However, as some clubs went on a spending spree, bagging themselves the hottest new thing there were others that didn’t get out of first gear.
The Coral News Team run down some of the teams that look to have done the best business this summer…
Fulham
Fulham have housed a huge twelve players at the Cottage this summer on their return to the Premier League and are now 4/11 to stay up.
Things started to snowball with the arrival of the much-sought-after Jean Michael Seri for a cool £25m.
He could prove vital to Fulham’s survival hopes alongside a clutch of new forwards Andre Schurrle, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Luciano Vietto.
They also brought in two goalkeepers in Fabri from Benfica and snaring Sergio Rico from Sevilla on loan.
The defence has been refreshed with Alfie Mawson, Calum Chambers and Timothy Fosu-Mensah all likely to start in a new-look back line.
However it could be the £30m signing of Frank Zambo-Anguissa that’s the surprise package.
Liverpool
After beating Manchester City three times last season, Liverpool felt if they added some quality in a few key areas they can seriously challenge for the title again.
The arrival of the versatile midfielder Fabinho alongside Naby Keita adds a new dynamism and steel to the middle of the park.
Xherdan Shaqiri at £13m looks a bargain for a player of his talent and he’ll feel the stature of the club is where he belongs.
After their season turned from a dream to a nightmare following the Champions League final last season, they finally landed a new goalkeeper.
Alisson Becker’s £65m move from Roma could be a game changer and propel Liverpool to the top honours under Jurgen Klopp.
The club are 7/2 to topple City and win the league.
Everton
They watched their Merseyside rivals do some clinical business at the start of the window but Everton finally came to the party on Deadline day.
Richarlison was signed prior to the final day of the window for an eye-watering £40m.
He could prove to be a success if he can replicate his excellent start at Watford under Marco Silva again at Goodison Park.
Full-back Lucas Digne continues his European tour by leaving the idyllic backdrop of Barcelona for the metropolis of Merseyside.
But many would say the Toffees did their best business on deadline day by bringing in both Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes from Barcelona and are 4/1 for a top six finish.
The signing of silky Brazilian Bernard on a free-transfer looks a great snare. He’ll believe he’s finally ready to embrace English football.
He should be joined by the loan signing of Kurt Zouma from Chelsea. The transfer could finally be ratified today as Silva revamps his defence.
