Trader’s Tips: Punchestown Day Two NAP

Coral’s racing trader Jason Ryan gives you TWO tips for Day Two of the Punchestown Festival

It wasn’t a good day for the punters on Day One of the 2017 Punchestown Festival, with only two favourites obliging, even our Senior Racing Trader Jason couldn’t pick out a winner on his first attempt.

Luckily, he’s back again with not just one, but TWO top tips ahead of today’s racing from the County Kildare course…

4.20 – Louis Fitzgerald Hotel Hurdle

Battleford is in my notebook, but for all the wrong reasons. Despite bumping into two decent sorts in The Storyteller and Monalee, he has been expensive to follow and his jumping leaves a lot to be desired. He might well improve for better ground, but he looks a horse to take on today. As a type, the market has gone that way and Willie Mullins’ inmate has drifted to 11/4 from an opening show of 7/4, which looks closer to the correct price. In contrast, MINELLA TILL DAWN has attracted some support and looks a worthy favourite in my eyes. The son of Shantou was in with every chance when falling at the last behind Al Boum Photo in a Grade 2 at Fairyhouse and is unexposed on this better ground.

In the following race, PRESENTING PERCY is worth following as he steps up to Grade 1 company following a facile success in the Pertemps at Cheltenham. That performance suggested there’s a whole lot more to come from the son of Sir Percy and while he faces a stellar field today, on official ratings he’s the best horse in the race and he’s well worth chancing on his Grade 1 debut.
