Tom Scudamore previews his ride on Via Dolorosa in the Coral Scottish Grand National on Saturday and discusses his apppearance on Question of Sport

I have great memories of riding in the Coral Scottish Grand National, winning the race last year on Mighty Thunder for Lucinda Russell.

He was fantastic in that race. It is a race with amazing history, one we all look forward to each year, and it was great to get my name on the board as a winning jockey.

I’m really looking forward to trying to get another win on Saturday. I would love to win it this time around with some crowds there!

3.35 Ayr, Coral Scottish National – Via Dolorosa

My ride in the race this year is Via Dolorosa, who has won his last two starts at Southwell and Fakenham and I was on board for the first of those when he made all to win.

This is a step up in trip for him but he is clearly in a really rich vein of form and his win at Fakenham was by a very wide margin. That has given him a big hike in the weights, carrying 11-2 now, but he will like the better ground so that can hopefully mean he can handle the increase.

He is already a National winner in France too, having won the Prix du Président de la République Chase at Auteuil back in 2017 aged just five. Let’s hope he can add a second National to his CV this weekend.

Question of Sport appearance a real pleasure

I’m on Question of Sport this weekend which was a real highlight for me.

I was on Sam Quek’s team alongside rugby player Joe Marler, up against Ugo Monye’s team with Fran Halsall the swimmer and Joe Choong who won gold in the modern pentathlon last summer in Tokyo.

It was so much fun and something that I have always wanted to have the chance to do, so it was a real pleasure to be asked.

It was definitely one of those moments where you think, things really haven’t been so bad have they?
