Three reasons why Aaron Ramsey could be a great signing for Juventus

Arsenal midfielder will join in the summer

Juventus have proved themselves to be the masters of the free transfer this decade.

They’ve brought in the likes of Andrea Pirlo, Paul Pogba, Dani Alves, Sami Khedira and Emre Can without having to pay a transfer fee. And now the Old Lady have sealed a deal to bring in Arsenal ace Aaron Ramsey for free at the end of the season.

Max Allegri’s side are on course for an eighth straight Serie A title and they’re 13/2 to win the Champions League, with only Manchester City and Barcelona ahead of them in the betting.

They’re already a superb side, so how will Ramsey improve them? We’ve taken a look at what he’ll bring…

Goals from midfield

Juventus have a devastating attack, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic in advanced areas, but they don’t have many goals coming from midfield.

Ramsey has a very useful habit of getting into the final third to create and finish chances. The 28-year-old has been directly involved in eight league goals this season despite only seeing 921 minutes of playing time.

Miralem Pjanic, Blaise Matuidi, Rodrigo Bentancur, Khedira and Can all have their own qualities. But none of them come close to the Welshman in terms of goal contributions.

Bags of energy

The pace of the Italian game is slower than the Premier League, which means Ramsey’s non-stop engine should really stand out.

He covers a huge amount of ground, whether it’s to get into the box or to press the opposition. And if he plays in a midfield trio with Pjanic and Matuidi, he’d have the licence to get into the areas where he can do most damage.

With opposition defences likely to be watching the likes of Ronaldo and Dybala closely, Ramsey could find himself with plenty of space to break into.

Hungry for silverware

Complacency can be a problem for even the very best sides. After so many years of topping the league in Italy with relative ease, it would only be natural for some of the Juve squad to ease off a little.

Ramsey only has three FA Cup medals to show for his 11 years at Arsenal. He’ll be desperate to get his hands on more silverware during his time in Turin.

His presence will help to freshen things up and ensure the squad stays competitive at the highest level.
