As we embark on the last couple of weeks of the transfer window there’s already been some big movers and shakers in the Premier League
Liverpool have spent big to address glaring issues in their squad and Arsenal have been busy under new boss Unai Emery.
However, as the summer window hots up the Coral News Team take a look at the most expensive signings so far…
GK: Alisson – £65m
Alisson only became Roma’s number one last season but his commanding performances drew a flurry of suitors.
The Brazilian kept 17 clean sheets in his 37 Serie A games – only one less than Pepe Reina.
The 25-year-old could be the missing piece in Liverpool’s trophy hunt.
RB: Ricardo Pereira – £22m
Leicester City have addressed their need for competition at full-back with the acquisition of Pereira.
The 24-year-old helped Porto win Primeira Liga for the first time in five seasons and joins the Premier League with a proven pedigree.
He worked with Claude Puel at Nice in 2015-16 and was ranked in the top five defenders for tackles and dribbles.
CB: Issa Diop – £22m
The young centre-back joins West Ham United off the back of captaining Toulouse to Ligue 1 survival at only 21-years-old.
He has made 30 and 34 appearances for his former club in the previous two campaigns as he rose through the ranks.
Diop has been capped at U16-U21 level for France and if he adapts to English football could force himself into the world champions’ squad.
CB: Jannick Vestergaard – £18m
Southampton have been crying out for a commanding centre-half ever since they sold Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool.
In Jannick Vestergaard they may have that man. The Great Dane comes in at 1.99m tall but his ability to play out from the back could be pivotal.
During the first half of the 2017/18 season 85.5% of his passes found their man. Saints may have a new hero!
LB: Diogo Dalot – £19m
Manchester United will be looking to a new guard of full-backs soon with Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young both being 33-years-old when the new season begins.
Dalot was called ‘Europe’s best full-back in his age group’ by Jose Mourinho.
He won the Portuguese title with Porto last season and was highly rated by manager Sergio Conceicao.
CM: Fred – £43.7m
2002 World Cup winner Gilberto Silva feels Fred could be the perfect foil for Paul Pogba at Man United. He calls him a mixture of a number 6 and a number 8.
The dynamic between Fred-Pogba and Nemanja Matic could be key to a United title challenge.
He has already experienced European football with Shakhtar Donetsk and completed 84% of his passes in the Champions League last season. 74% of them were forward passes,too.
CM: Naby Keita – £52.8m
Naby Keita is primed for stardom and may now have the manager to get the very best out of him.
The midfielder impressed yet again for RB Leipzig last season and arrives at Liverpool with huge expectations.
Capable of playing as a number 10, number 8 or even in a wide position his versatility will be vital to Jurgen Klopp.
CM: Jorginho – £50.4m
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis said new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri wanted to sign all of his former players after leaving the Italian club last month.
However, he’s got his hands on one so far. Jorginho. The 25-year-old’s average passing percentage was 89.5% last season.
And Chelsea will be hoping the progressive Italian can inspire a return to the Champions League.
RW: Riyad Mahrez – £60m
2016’s PFA Player of the Year must have felt as though he has waited a life-time for a big move.
The Premier League winner was finally snared from Leicester by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
Mahrez will hope he can continue his productive three years at the Foxes, after netting 35 goals and assisting 25 since 2015.
FW: Andriy Yarmolenko – £17.5m
Perhaps not an out and out striker but Yarmolenko could prove an inspired forward signing for West Ham. Marko Arnautovic-esque.
He may not have had such a productive spell at Borussia Dortmund but the Ukrainian netted double figures in seven consecutive seasons at Dynamo Kiev.
The 28-year-old could form a frightening partnership with Felipe Anderson at London Stadium.
LW: Felipe Anderson – £33.5m
The third and final of the Hammers’ new recruits. Felipe Anderson has been attracting interest from the Premier League for some time now.
It was thought Man United were lining up a move for the Brazilian in 2015.
Anderson was injured for a large chunk of last season but ended strong with 5 assists in his last 12 Lazio appearances.
