The English top-flight saw its fifth wave of fixtures played out with plenty of fantastic individual performances.
With this in mind, Coral football writers have picked out their Premier League team of matchweek five. Read on to discover who made the XI…
Formation: 4-2-2-2
Goalkeeper: Ron-Robert Zieler (Leicester City)
Former Manchester United youth product Zieler kept a clean sheet in a game in which he was rarely called upon.
However, when he was, the German dealt with danger easily, especially from a deflected free-kick late on.
Right back: Seamus Coleman (Everton)
Coleman shone throughout in a dazzling performance that saw the Irishman put the Toffees in front after a fightback, just before the half-time break.
The 3-1 result marked what some are dubbing the ‘Ronald Revolution’ after manager Ronald Koeman’s impressive start to the league season.
Centre back: Aleksandar Kolarov (Manchester City)
The Serb pinged passes around all game long in an effortless performance. There was nothing to fault in the former left back, who has made a superb switch into the centre of the defensive unit.
Playing most of the last 20 minutes in the opponent’s half, he controlled proceedings and tested the keeper from around 40 yards out – also picking up a clean sheet.
Centre back: Dejan Lovren (Liverpool)
Like his black eye, Lovren shined in an impressive display against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Cool in defence and ruthless in attack, the Reds made themselves potential title challengers.
Croatian Lovren slotted in a right footed effort to open the scoring, and was vital in the Anfield outfit’s road win.
Left back: Christian Fuchs (Leicester)
Everything the Austrian did ooozed with quality. From perfectly timed interceptions to killer balls, Fuchs was excellent.
He recorded a clean sheet and assisted Islam Slimani’s opener, in a dominant 3-0 performance.
Defensive midfield: Gareth Barry (Everton)
The most booked player in Premier League history will probably become the man with the most league appearances after reaching 600 against Middlesbrough.
Veteran Barry marked the occasion with a goal, netting the equaliser and, of course, got his customary booking.
Defensive midfield: Etienne Capoue (Watford)
Former Tottenham man Capoue, has now scored four goals in five league games after netting just one in his previous 57 in the Premier League.
Shielding his back four, the defensive midfielder was key in the Hornets’ win over Manchester United.
Attacking midfield: Kevin De Bruyne (Man City)
The Belgium star is operating on a whole different level to most in the Premier League. De Bruyne is a sheer joy to watch and now has two goals and four assists already this campaign.
Guardiola was signing his praises after their clash against Bournemouth, in which De Bruyne scored and assisted. He has now had a hand in 34 goals in his 48 appearances for Manchester City in all competitions, since his arrival in 2015.
Attacking midfield: Nacer Chadli (West Bromwich Albion)
What a home debut it was for new West Brom signing Chadli. The Belgium international found the net twice and assisted the same number in a 4-2 rout over West Ham United.
The result removes a lot of pressure from Tony Pulis’ shoulders, after fans became restless at the style of play.
Centre forward: Troy Deeney (Watford)
Walter Mazzarri’s chunky striker was on top form in the Hornets’ triumph over Man Utd.
Deeney played like a young Wayne Rooney, while the real one crawled around the pitch. His well-taken penalty rounded off a 3-1 win, building on their brilliant comeback over the Hammers last week, when Deeney scored too with a wonder goal.
Centre forward: Islam Slimani (Leicester)
In a 3-0 demolition of Premier League newboys Burnley, the reigning champions’ record signing Slimani showed his worth.
On his league debut, he linked up superbly with fellow Algerian Riyad Mahrez to bag a brace.
