Super League: Wane talks up O’Loughlin as Wigan meet Huddersfield
Published:Wigan Warriors travel to Huddersfield in Super League to take on the Giants, following a superb win over leaders Leeds on Magic Weekend, last time out.
Shaun Wane’s side are odds-on at 4/7 with Coral to win the game, and Matty Bowen, who scored twice against the Rhinos, is 5/4 to score anytime.
Captain Sean O’Loughlin, who is 7/2 in the anytime market, will play his 350th appearance for the club, and coach Wane has been paying tribute to his player ahead of the contest.
When asked if he was the best he’d ever coached, Wane told local media: “He’s one of them, I wouldn’t like to name one but he’s up there.
“He’s a great individual, smart, easy to coach, ultra critical of himself and a massive lesson to young kids who come up here arrogant and think they’ve done anything.
“That’s why people like Ryan Hoffman and Brett Finch go over to the NRL and the one player they mention is him,” he continued.
“It’s the fact that he’s very humble which makes him special.”
Wane also reacted to the news that Super League voted in favour of a marquee player for 2016, saying it would have its advantages.
“What I’m finding is that people that go over there to rugby union it’s not always the best move they’ve made,” added Wane.
“Joel Tomkins couldn’t wait to get back as he loves it at this club and rugby league. If the marquee player rule can h elp us keep hold of some of our top players then great.”
Having scored last time out, Australian, Dan Sarginson is a decent 11/10 anytime, and the back has been in good form of late for the Cherry and Whites.
The Giants, meanwhile, were held to a draw by Catalans last time out, though can take confidence from Jodie Broughton’s brace of tries, with the player evens anytime.
