Staying at the wheel? Solskjaer now 1/8 for Man United job next season

Odds also slashed on Champions League glory

Manchester United enjoyed arguably the best night of the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era last night, knocking Paris Saint Germain out of the Champions League.

And that’s seen the odds slashed again on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer getting the manager’s job permanently.

He’s gone from 1/3 to just 1/8 to be in charge at the start of 2019-20, following last night’s miracle in France.

Mauricio Pochettino at 10/3 is now the only other candidate at odds shorter than 9/1.

Coral’s Harry Aiteknhead said: “Ole was already odds on to land the job permanently but last night seems to have all but sealed it for him. It was an incredible result and in our book he is now as short as 1-8 to be in the dugout for the start of next season.”

Ahead of last night’s second leg against PSG, United were 125/1 to lift the Champions League trophy. Now, they’re 9/1 to win the CL – making them fourth-favourites in the betting.

Aitkenhead added: “There is still a long way to go but progression has catapulted them right to the top of the outright betting too, now fourth favourites to lift the Champions League trophy in Madrid on June the 1st.”
