Spieth tops US Open betting at 15-2 in wide open market
Published:
Jordan Spieth has been cut into 15-2 (from 9-1) by bookmaker Coral to win the US Open this week following an increase in support for the Masters winner on the eve of the second Major of the year. World number one Rory McIlroy is second best in the betting at 8-1, while Phil Mickelson has been trimmed into 14-1 (from 18-1) to complete the Grand Slam.
Coral can also report a lot of interest in Henrik Stenson at 33-1, while Brandt Snedeker has been popular at 50-1.
“It’s been a long time since we have had an outright market for a Major where it is 15/2 the field, however, that is a good reflection of how wide open the bookmakers, and punters alike, think the tournament is going to be at Chambers Bay,” said Coral’s John Hill.
“Spieth has been the most popular selection at the top of the outright betting but the worst result for Coral this week would be Phil Mickelson completing the Grand Slam as punters have been piling into Lefty each-way,” added Hill.
