Spectacular Jay McGuiness new bookies evens favourites
Published:The betting for Strictly Come Dancing has flipped on its head, according to leading bookmaker Coral following Jay McGuiness’ spectacular performance last night on the show. The former Wanted pop star is now the evens favourite to lift the Glitterball trophy at the end of the series, but was as big as 3-1 before picking up the first 10 from the judges this year.
Peter Andre has drifted out to 4-1 in the outright betting for the show, Katie Derham is the best of the women at 7-1, while Helen George can be backed at 9-1.
“The crowd, judges, punters and bookmakers were all blown away with Jay’s performance. It was described as one of the best dances ever on Strictly and we were forced to act by making the former Wanted pop star the new short priced favourite to go all the way, where he could prove hard to beat,” said Coral’s John Hill.
Anthony Ogogo became the second contestant to leave this year’s show last night and was the 5-2 favourite to leave before he lost the dance off.
