Odds also shifting for L’Arc de Triomphe

Ahead of Saturday’s Ayr Gold Cup, Coral traders have trimmed the odds on recent Group 1 runner-up Son of Rest – into 5/1 (from 6/1).

The four-year-old is now firm favourite following the final declarations for the race, having been 12/1 immediately after Monday’s entry stage.

Next best is Marwan Koukash-owned Growl at 9/1. The gelding has also seen his odds trimmed from 12s, the price currently placed on Tim Easterby’s charge Flying Pursuit.

Coral’s David Stevens said: “Son Of Rest has been clear favourite for the Ayr Gold Cup since connections confirmed his participation on Monday afternoon, and it’s highly likely we’ve yet to see the last of the support for the Irish raider.”

Looking ahead to next month’s Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp, odds have been cut on glory for recent St Leger winner Kew Gardens. His price has been slashed into 12/1 (from 16/1).

However, the firm favourite for Paris perfection is 11/10 shot Enable, who is on course for an eighth successive victory.

Stevens added: “No horse has ever followed up St Leger success with victory in the Arc, but Kew Gardens is a Group One winner over the Longchamp course and distance, and could well be Aidan O’Brien’s leading hope next month.”
