Premier League great gives his views on Mourinho’s men

Manchester United fans will be bitterly disappointed going out of the Champions League to Sevilla.

After a draw in Spain which everyone at the time thought was a good result, they just did not make it count on Tuesday.

They could not get out of second gear. They were lethargic and in the end were beaten by the better team.

When the draw was made everyone was predicting United to go through. They also went into the second leg on the back of an excellent win over Liverpool.

That game had everything you’d want from a United-Liverpool match.

When you look at the players they had on the pitch against Sevilla, the likes of Lukaku, Sanchez and Rashford, they had enough quality on the pitch and they should have been able to get the win in front of their home supporters.

United knew what they were getting when they signed Mourinho, a man who has an arrogance about him but delivers trophies.

It might not be pretty at times but he gets you trophies just like he did last season. Having said all that, the football they have been playing has not been entertaining at all.

They signed Paul Pogba for £90 million and Jose is not getting the best out of him.

I am not sure Pogba knows what is expected from him on the pitch. He doesn’t know if he should be sitting, attacking or doing a bit of both.

They signed Alexis Sanchez and it looks like they have got his twin brother.

He looks like the little boy the lost. It is the coach’s job to get the best out of the players.

I understand the criticism, but Mourinho will come back and say they are second in the league and they are improving because they only finished fifth last year.
