Latest odds, preview and news for Serie A matchweek 22

After another flurry of Coppa Italia action in the week, Serie A’s big guns turn their attention back towards league matters this weekend.

Roma will be looking to leapfrog Stadio Olimpico visitors AC Milan in the race for Champions League qualification. Meanwhile, Napoli host high-flying Sampdoria hoping to close the gap on leaders Juventus, who face Parma at the Allianz Stadium.

AS Roma v AC Milan (Sunday, 7:30pm)

Roma coach Eusebio Di Francesco will be looking for an immediate response after his side were humbled 7-1 by Fiorentina in midweek. The good news for him is that he should get it.

I Giallorossi have won their last four matches at the Stadio Olimpico and welcome a Milan side with just three wins on the road all season in Serie A. That’s all well and good. But Roma will have to do without nine-goal forward Edin Dzeko after he was sent off in midweek.

That edges us towards a tight encounter, with a sixth Milan draw away from home priced at 5/2. You can back a 1-1 stalemate at 6/1, while two stunted sides could share Under 2.5 Goals at 23/20.

Juventus v Parma (Saturday, 7:30pm)

Time ago these two used to battle it out for Serie A titles. Now it seems impossible for anyone to catch Juventus at the top of the pack – let alone mid-table Parma.

Nevertheless, the visitors gave Juve a scare in September. They’ve also taken maximum hauls away at Inter Milan and Fiorentina too. So could they give the all-conquering Old Lady another fright?

Maybe. Cristiano Ronaldo and co. should prevail at 2/11, with the Portuguese ace a likely bet to find the target once or maybe twice. But they haven’t had it all their own way this season.

Massimiliano Allegri’s men have been behind or level at half-time in 11 of their 21 Serie A matches this term. Coral go 33/20 about a Draw in the first-half, while there’s 27/10 about Juventus/Parma in the Half-Time/Full-Time market. The hosts are also 9/1 to Win From Behind.

Napoli v Sampdoria (Saturday, 5pm)

Carlo Ancelotti and Napoli have only dropped 15 points this season. Three of those came against high-flying Sampdoria in early September. Could the visitors spring another shock here?

The answer is probably not. Gli Azzurri are unbeaten in their last 20 matches in all competitions and have a striker in Arkadiusz Milik who is in tip top form. The prolific Pole has six goals in his last five matches at Stadio San Paolo and almost certainly holds the key to this contest.

His goals should power Napoli to victory at 4/11, while it’s 16/5 about Napoli to Win and Under 2.5 Goals for the fifth time in eight meetings between the pair. Both Teams to Score can be backed at 4/5.
