Serie A Preview: Can anything split Milan and Lazio?
Published:Preview, odds and tips for Serie A
With Juventus almost certain to wrap up their eighth consecutive Serie A title at SPAL on Saturday, our attention this week turns to the race for the Champions League.
Roma, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Lazio are all in the hunt for a coveted top-four spot. But who will prevail? The latter pair face-off at the San Siro in the Serie A game of the week.
AC Milan v Lazio (7:30pm Saturday, Freesports)
Milan looked nailed on for a Champions League spot last month. But a four-match winless run has cast doubt over that possibility despite the threat of 29-goal hitman Krzysztof Piatek.
The Polish star has been scoring even with I Rossoneri failing to pick up points. He’s 13/10 to make it 22 goals in Serie A this season or 10/3 to Score First for the third match in a row.
However, Milan may not get it all their own way. Lazio tend to turn up for these big games and boast a decent enough away record this term. Not only that, but this fixture is always a tight affair.
The last four matches between the two Italian giants have ended all-square. It’s 11/5 for another stalemate here, with 15/2 about a 1-1 draw. Ciro Immobile is a 17/10 chance for the visitors.
Roma v Udinese (5pm Saturday)
It’s not been a vintage campaign for Roma. But they should have enough to overcome travel-sick Udinese. Saturday’s visitors to the Stadio Olimpico have picked up just eight points on the road all season long.
We go 1/2 about a home win, although there’s reason to suggest there could be goals. Igor Tudor’s men have shipped four in each of their recent visits to Sampdoria, Juventus and Napoli.
Roma are 5/2 to win with Over 3.5 Goals in the match or 10/3 on the -2 Handicap. Edin Dzeko is rated the likeliest man to break the deadlock at 7/2.
Frosinone v Inter Milan (7:30pm Sunday, Premier 2)
There’s reason to suggest Inter might find a trip to Frosinone tough. The hosts have won two on the bounce in Serie A and are still fighting for their lives to avoid relegation to Serie B.
However, Marco Baroni’s men haven’t fared too well against the division’s leading lights this season. They’ve conceded 24 goals in eight matches against the division’s top-five. Inter’s neighbours are the only side to concede against them in that run.
An away win is 6/10 with Inter to Win and Over 2.5 Goals at 29/20. Mauro Icardi is a 21/20 chance to Score Anytime with flying winger Ivan Perisic at 15/8. The visitors are also 17/10 to Win to Nil.
