Sean Bowen: He goes into this race with an excellent chance

Published:

Jockey and Coral ambassador Sean Bowen previews his rides at Newbury on Friday as he continues his bid to become champion jockey.

12.10 Newbury – Heard That

Olly Murphy entered this horse in a couple of races this week, and he ran at Taunton on Thursday, so unfortunately, I will not be riding in the opening race on the card.

1.15 Newbury – Doctor Nightingale

She has some placed form this season, and she has a lot of experience going into this race. This is a step up to Listed company, so she will need to step up on what she has produced so far. Gordon Elliott has two runners in the race and his other juvenile, Wodhooh, looks the one to beat. Hopefully, my filly can be in the mix at the finish.

3.35 Newbury – Rambo T

He is a lovely horse who dealt with 2m5½f on soft ground at Newton Abbot two runs back. He then got outpaced at Cheltenham last time out but stayed on very strongly up the hill to finish third of 16 runners. I think the step up in trip will help and he comes into this race with an excellent chance.

Confidence still high

Newbury has called a precautionary inspection on Friday morning and hopefully it will get the green light. This is a great two-day meeting with the highlight, of course, being the Coral Gold Cup on Saturday, a race rich in history.

I am riding full of confidence at the moment, and I am getting plenty of spare rides. I am hoping I can add to my tally for the season over the next few days.

Sean
