Preview and odds for Wednesday’s games

There are six games taking place in Scotland’s top flight on Wednesday and we look at a selection of those matches in our Scottish Premiership betting tips.

St Johnstone v Hearts

With 10 games played, Hearts are chasing champions Rangers at the top.

Hearts have won five and drawn five and take their unbeaten record to McDiarmid Park following two successive 1-1 draws – at Rangers and at home to Dundee last Saturday.

Hearts are 29/20 to win and while those odds may seem big, they have not won at this venue since a 2-0 victory in November 2010, a span of 14 matches (D7 L7).

Their last meeting resulted in a thrilling 3-3 draw in February 2020 and it is 21/10 the game ends in a stalemate.

St Johnstone have won two and drawn three of their Scottish Premiership games this season and have lost their last two – going down 3-0 at home to Livingston and 2-0 at Celtic on Saturday.

They are 2/1 to win and given their good run against Hearts at home, it is worth looking at the Double Chance Market where they are 8/15 to win or draw the game.

St Johnstone have only scored more than once in one of their last 25 Scottish Premiership home games (3-1 vs Dundee), netting just 15 goals in total in this run.

It is 19/10 the hosts score two or more goals this time.

Hibernian v Celtic

Hibernian are fifth in the Scottish Premiership table and can move to within a point of fourth-placed Celtic with a victory.

Hibs, who have lost their last three matches in the division, are 4/1 to win.

However, they are unbeaten in seven home league meetings with Celtic (W2 D5) since a 4-0 reverse in January 2014 and it is 23/20 they either win or draw in the Double Chance market.

Following an eight-game winless run away from home, Celtic have now won their last two league matches on the road.

They are 7/10 to win and head into this on the back of a 2-0 home defeat of St Johnstone.

Celtic have lost none of their last eight league games against Hibernian (W3 D5) since a 2-0 defeat in December 2018 under Brendan Rodgers and are 2/11 to avoid defeat, with the draw at 14/5.

Rangers v Aberdeen

Rangers are making a bold bid to retain the Scottish Premiership title and are 1/4 to defeat Aberdeen at Ibrox.

Steven Gerrard’s side are top of the table with a three-point lead, having lost just once this season.

They won their seventh game of the campaign by beating St Mirren 2-1 at the Paisley 2021 Stadium on Sunday with a penalty from Kemar Roofe and the other from Alfredo Morelos.

Roofe has netted in each of his two Scottish Premiership appearances for Rangers against Aberdeen (three goals in total), with both games finishing in 4-0 home victories last season.

Aberdeen are in eighth place, having won just three of their 10 games, but they arrive on the back of a 1-0 defeat of Hibs, with Christian Ramirez’s strike proving the difference. They are 12/1 to triumph.

Rangers are unbeaten in nine league meetings with Aberdeen (W7 D2) since a 1-0 defeat at Ibrox in December 2018.

Aberdeen have failed to score in each of their last five league visits to Ibrox, losing four of them (D1). It is 10/11 Rangers win to nil.

The Dons have kept just one clean sheet in their last 12 away league games, having recorded four shutouts in their five on the road before this.

It is 29/10 they win or draw the game on the Double Chance market and 19/20 they score at least once.
