O’Brien-trained runners dominate the market

Santiago is the favourite for Saturday’s Irish Derby, following his Queen’s Vase win at Royal Ascot last week.

He’s 3/1 at the top of the market, slightly ahead of another Aidan O’Brien-trained runner, Arthur’s Kingdom (4/1).

O’Brien’s son, Joseph, trains the unbeaten Crossfirehurricane. He’s a 9/2 shot for the Curragh Classic, with stablemate Galileo Chrome a 20/1 outsider.

“Occupying its normal slot in the calendar, this year’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby is also far from unusual in that the market is dominated by a host of O’Brien-trained runners, in this case Aidan and his son Joseph, with Jim Bolger responsible for 7/1 fifth-favourite Fiscal Rules,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
