Sandown and Yarmouth previews: Summer ready to sizzle

Summer can cash-in on class drop at Sandown
Trainer Andrew Balding has his team in fine form and Dream Of Summer looks decent value to provide him with another winner in the 1m handicap on today’s card at Sandown (16.10).
The colt scored impressively on his final start of 2015 when making all to win by 2 1/4 lengths at Lingfield off a mark of 70, and started this campaign off a mark of 77 on the back of that victory.
Although he has failed to trouble the judge in three outings, Dream Of Summer has shaped better than the bare result in the last two of those when fourth and fifth to Bastille Day in class 4 contests at Kempton and Epsom.
On each occasion he has shown plenty of pace to race at the head of affairs before weakening late on.
The three-year-old has since been dropped another 2lb and is now able to race in this lower grade class 5 affair of 73.
That makes Dream Of Summer look potentially well-treated and, with those three spins under his belt, the son of Canford Cliffs should now be spot on to do himself justice at a track where it often pays to be up with the pace.
Paling has plenty going for him
Paling has a progressive profile and can take advantage of a drop in class to get back to winning ways in the 1m 2f handicap (15.50).
Trained by the in-form Roger Charlton, the colt won on his final start as a juvenile and after with plenty of promise in his first two starts this season scored in good style at Brighton.
Paling only had to be ridden out readily beat Brave Archibald by 1 4/4 length in a class 4 contest and has since run a blinder to finish a 3/4 length runner-up to Altersheed in a class 3 affair at Goodwood.
Although raised 2lb for the latter, a revised rating of 79 should not be beyond Paling and he now drops back down into class 4 company.
The son of Zamindar should also have plenty more to offer after just six starts and is clearly going the right way.

Sahara hot stuff at Yarmouth
Trainer Chris Wall does well with his runners at Yarmouth and Sahara can cash-in on a drop in class to provide him with another winner at the seaside venue in the 1m 1f handicap there today (16.25).
The Newmarket handler has an overall strike rate of just over 18 per cent at the track and backing all his runners at it has produced a health £33.38 profit to a £1 level stake.
In Sahara he has a filly who opened her account 12 months ago in a class 5 handicap at Sandown off a mark of 70, before going on to post two solids efforts to make the frame in class 4 company off 76 and 77.
The four-year-old is yet to get her head in front in three starts this season but all those runs have been in class 4 company and she was a big eye-catcher on her penultimate outing when fourth at Windsor.
Although Sahara failed to build on that run last time out at the same venue, she has since been dropped another 1lb and is now able to race off 74.
That makes her potentially well-treated now dropped back down into class 5 company and this looks a golden opportunity for the daughter of Clodovil to get her head back in front.
Pacharana worth another chance
Pacharana disappointed last time out but looks worth another chance to build on previous promise in the 1m 2f handicap (15.50).
The Luca Cumani trained filly hinted at ability in three maiden runs over a seven month period, included when a tenderly handled eighth on return to action at Haydock back in May.
Pacharana was allotted a lowly opening handicap mark of 58 on the back of that effort but could finish only fifth of 14 off it on handicap debut at Bath last month.
However, she was again not given a hard time once it was clear she would not be winning and the daughter of Oasis Dream is bred to be much better than she has shown so far.
The three-year-old is a sister of useful middle distance winner Richard of Yorke and that suggests she should be well up to winning a weak class 6 contest of this nature.
