Coral’s rumour reel

The arrival of the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford has seen Manchester United linked with a host of top European names, and they are reportedly close to snapping up a Portugal international ace, while Premier League clubs are on red alert regarding Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s future.

So, following the Bank Holiday weekend, read on for the latest transfer gossip in Coral’s rumour reel…

Gomes set for Old Trafford switch

With Portuguese tactician Mourinho taking up the Old Trafford hotseat after football’s worst kept secret was finally revealed, the former Chelsea boss is moving swiftly to bolster his inherited squad by snapping up compatriot and Valencia midfield ace Andre Gomes.

The 22-year-old shares the same agent as the new Man Utd manager, Jorge Mendes, and is reportedly keen to swap La Liga for the Premier League this summer, despite interest from dominant Serie A champions Juventus.

Los Che’s midfield maestro refused to be drawn into talk regarding his future when questioned about a potential move to the red half of Manchester though, instead claiming he is focused on helping Portugal succeed at Euro 2016 in France.

“We are focused on Portugal and that is what we are interested in speaking about,” stated Gomes. “It does not matter much at this point, it’s all a mystery. Leaving Valencia? Talk to the president of the club.”

The playmaker’s stock will undoubtedly rise with further strong showings on French soil in the coming weeks, as he prepares to line-up alongside skipper and recent Champions League winner with Real Madrid Cristiano Ronaldo, for what they will hope is a successful summer.

Aubameyang Premier League bound?

Borussia Dortmund hitman Aubameyang has no end of potential suitors after another sensational season in the Bundesliga, where he struck an impressive 39 goals to help the Black and Yellows finish second only to rivals Bayern Munich.

The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with Liverpool due to the connection with his former boss Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, while Arsenal have long been in search of a new striker, and the Gabon forward’s international teammate Daniel Cousin admitted he may grace England soon.

Speaking while on international duty, Cousin said that a switch to either Manchester club would suit the frontman’s style of play, putting such sides on red alert this summer.

“I think he wants to move to England,” stated Cousin. “The Premier League is a different style to Germany; it’s more physical and, for me, it’s a good moment for Pierre to move to a big club like Manchester United or Manchester City.

“Yes [he would be a success]. I think he can score more goals and get more experience with a big team. With Mourinho at Man United, and Guardiola [at City], I think this kind of coach can help Pierre-Emerick to progress.”

Potters pounce for Villa prodigy Grealish?

Following Aston Villa’s hapless relegation to the Championship after finishing rock-bottom of the top-flight, the club are at risk of losing their key players, and one could set to be Jack Grealish, despite his poor recent form.

The young winger was in the spotlight last year regarding his international future, having declared his allegiance for England rather than the Republic of Ireland, and Stoke City are the latest team to come calling for his signature.

West Midlands-born Grealish may welcome a switch to the Potters under the guidance of Mark Hughes next season, with the Championship possibly being a less attractive position in his early career, as he looks to burst onto the international stage at some stage.
