West Ham transfer news – Sturridge to leave Liverpool?
It’s no secret that Slaven Bilic’s second season in charge at West Ham United, and the aftermath of the move to Boleyn Stadium, hasn’t quite gone to plan.
Winger come full back Michail Antonio is the Irons’ top scorer in the Premier League so far this season, which says it all about their misfiring forwards, with Juventus loanee Simone Zaza disappointing, while Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho are both still sidelined with injury.
Enter England striker Daniel Sturridge, who is reportedly frustrated with his lack of playing time at Liverpool, and could seek a starring role elsewhere in the winter transfer window after falling down the pecking order with Jurgen Klopp.
It is believed the Hammers and Stoke City are the most prominent clubs circling for the injury-prone but lethal poacher, with £28m mooted as the fee that would prise the marksman away from Anfield.
Bilic to draft in Deeney
While, if beleaguered boss Bilic attempts to bolster his forward options in January, there is also another English name in the hat – Troy Deeney.
Watford’s captain was at the centre of a huge transfer tussle between his current club and Leicester City last summer, with the Hornets holding onto their hitman.
West Ham are thought to have set aside £30m for a new net threat, which is more than the reported £25m Watford rebuffed for Deeney before. But, the frontman has scored just three in 11 PL outings this season – is he worth that kind of cash?
Inter Milan after Man Utd stars
Finally, Man Utd may have found an eager buyer for several fringe stars, with Serie A big-guns Inter said to be eyeing several Old Trafford players.
The Nerazzurri’s supposed interest in wingman Memphis Depay and full back Matteo Darmian makes sense, as Jose Mourinho has long been tipped to offload the pair.
But, latest whispers also surprisingly link Inter with centre backs Chris Smalling and Daley Blind. Neither defender covered themselves in glory through Man Utd’s recent bad patch – but will the Red Devils really but so many of their rearguard starts up for sale?
