Even after the additions of Cameroon international Joel Matip and Estonia counterpart Ragnar Klavan, who both seem to have settled in well at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp doesn’t appear to have stopped looking for defensive reinforcements, with Andrea Ranocchia to Liverpool a story in the Sunday papers.
Read on to learn more about this gossip and other players in the latest Coral rumour reel…
Ranocchia to Liverpool?
According to reports coming out of Italy, the Reds are looking to add Inter Milan’s Ranocchia in the winter window.
Klopp is said to be a keen admirer of the centre back, who could be available after failing out of favour with new Inter boss Frank de Boer.
Now 28, Ranocchia was once earmarked as a potential Italy captain and projected to have a big future. In reality, he has failed to remove consistent mistakes and lapses in concentration from his game.
Despite playing just twice this season for the Nerazzurri, Klopp could be attracted to the 6ft 5in defender because if his tactical knowledge and imposing physique.
PSG offer Schweinsteiger exit from Old Trafford
One of the first things Jose Mourinho did as Manchester United boss was to exile the World Cup winning midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, brought in by predecessor Louis van Gaal.
Veteran Schweinsteiger is yet to play a single minute of the Red Devils’ season, but could find an escape rout in the form of PSG.
Reports suggest the French capital club would be willing to pay around £1.5m for the former Bayern Munich star. Schweinsteiger could be the kind of high-profile, established name to sell shirts at the Parc des Princes following Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s exit on a free to United this summer.
While his current contract is reportedly worth £180k-per-week and expires in 2018, Schweinsteiger will likely to have to take a pay cut to find a path out of Old Trafford.
Badelj Spurs bound?
Tottenham are reportedly preparing a swoop for Fiorentina’s defensive midfield maestro Milan Badelj.
The deep-lying Croatia international has 25 caps and caught Mauricio Pochettino’s eye while playing against Spurs when the clubs met in the Europa League’s last 32 stage in successive years.
Badelj was a target for AC Milan in the summer, but the two Serie A sides couldn’t agree upon a fee, despite Chile’s Matias Fernandez moving from Florence to the San Siro. Expect a Daniel Levy lesson in negotiation this January.
