Welcome to Coral’s latest exciting installment of the rumour reel and, as Halloween approaches, Newcastle United fans may have a case of the shivers as gossip surfaces that Chelsea want a Jamaal Lascelles transfer.
There’s much more than just Antonio Conte’s eternal centre back quest in the papers this morning, however, with West Ham United seeking a high-profile player swap. So, pop on your slippers, put the kettle on and read our rumour reel for October 30th…
Chelsea want a Jamaal Lascelles transfer
The Stamford Bridge Blues are widely expected to dip into their stocking this winter transfer window and find a defender – but which one will it be? Newcastle’s Lascelles is the latest to be linked, and punters may have picked up on a theme.
Also recently tipped to be the latest Cobham recruits were duo Michael Keane and Ben Gibson of Burnley and Middlesbrough respectively. Chelsea, reports claim, are seeking to boost their homegrown quota with an English defender.
Magpies mainstay Lascelles, 22, is the newest name on Conte’s wishlist, but landing former interim boss Rafa Benitez’s captain could set the Blues back as much as £18m.
West Ham Manolo Gabbiadini swap?
Next up, there are tabloid whispers that West Ham will attempt to trade misfiring marksman Simone Zaza for another Italian attacker in Napoli’s Manolo Gabbiadini.
A striker swap could well be on the cards after Zaza failed to impress at the Olympic Stadium. The rumour doing the rounds is that the Hammers may have to buy Zaza if he plays over 10 games for the Londoners. The Juventus-owned forward currently has eight appearances in all competitions.
Enter versatile Gabbiadini, who has slightly fallen down the pecking order at Napoli, but who West Ham are believed to be willing to fork out £22.5m for in a player plus cash deal, with Zaza the striker sweetener.
