Coral’s rumour reel

Coral’s rumour reel has really hit overdrive this morning, with a number of eyebrow-raising whispers doing the rounds. Will PSG beat Manchester United to triggering Antoine Griezmann’s release clause? Is Wayne Rooney to Inter Milan about to unfold?

Find out about these Premier League subplots and much more in our Thursday transfer fix…

PSG to trigger Antoine Griezmann’s release clause?

France and Atletico Madrid forward Griezmann has a price on his head and PSG are willing to pay it – according to reports in Spain.

Last summer the striker, recently named La Liga Best Player 2016, inked a new deal with Atleti that meant it would take €100m to prize him from the Vicente Calderon, supposedly dashing Man Utd’s dreams of a raid.

Linked heavily with both the Red Devils and Chelsea, back when Jose Mourinho was in charge at Stamford Bridge too, papers speculate that PSG are now in pole position, but Man Utd may come back into the frame and attempt to outdo their French foes.

Is another world record, or at least equalling, fee on the cards this summer? Watch this space.

Wayne Rooney to Inter?

Sticking with Old Trafford, the Rooney saga also rumbles on after the skipper was left out of Mourinho’s Manchester derby XI.

This morning, rumours in Italy posit that Serie A giants Inter Milan are weighing up whether to make a move for the England and Red Devils skipper.

Still a star name even if lacking form, Rooney could be the marquee signing and statement the Milan club’s Chinese shareholders require – with the prospect of an ageing player extending a career in Italy nothing new.

While, in the red and black half of the San Siro, AC Milan may also have an interest in out-of-favour wingman Memphis Depay, with Ligue 1 club Marseille expected to provide competition for the Dutchman.

Juve to swoop for Liverpool target Mahmoud Dahoud

In other news, both Liverpool and Manchester City could miss out on highly-rated Borussia Monchengladbach midfield maestro Dahoud, as Italian top-flight champions Juventus are apparently primed to bid £13.5m in the winter transfer window.

The Syria-born star reportedly has a contract clause that will allow him to leave for only £8.4m in summer, so Monchengladbach may want to take that offer for the 20-year-old while they can.

While, finally, speaking of Liverpool links, Spanish press are speculating that current Stoke City right back and former Reds defender Glen Johnson could be on Barcelona’s radar.

The Catalans are searching for a new full back on the right flank, but we’ll take this one with a pinch of salt…
