Coral’s rumour reel

The transfer market is still months from reopening in January, but plenty of Premier League managers are on the lookout for potential new signings next year.

This includes Pep Guardiola, with the Manchester City boss reportedly trying to bring in further acquisitions in the winter, despite splashing the cash during the summer.

So, read on to see who the Catalan coach is targeting and the rest of the latest transfer gossip in our rumour reel for October 23rd…

Man City chase Fabregas

Despite spending well over £100m on overhauling his inherited Sky Blues squad, Man City chase Fabregas as a potential January capture as Guardiola seeks to reunite with his former Barcelona midfielder.

The Spaniard has fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge under Antonio Conte this season, and Guardiola is believed to be lining up a £20m offer for his compatriot who he brought back to the Nou Camp in 2011 from Arsenal.

Fabregas previously turned down switches to both Serie A duo AC Milan and Juventus in the summer to remain in west London, but he has made just one start under Conte this current campaign.

City have stuttered of late and Guardiola is supposedly frustrated at the lack of creativity from the central areas, which has led to the previous Barca tactician aiming to secure a deal for former colleague Fabregas.

Rooney bound for China?

With Wayne Rooney having seen his position as a key played at Manchester United come to an end under Jose Mourinho, the England international forward is set to be the subject of a mammoth bid from China.

Former Three Lions boss Sven-Goran Eriksson is ready to test Rooney’s determination to remain at Old Trafford, as the Shanghai SIPG coach looks to lure his former England player to the Chinese Super League club.

It’s believed the Far East outfit are willing to fork out an incredible £500k-a-week deal to land their man, a deal which could sway Rooney, who is currently at a crossroads in his domestic career.

The now 30-year-old attacker had offers on the table from China 10 months ago, but that was before his situation at Man Utd was a little less clear, and he could soon become the face of football in the Far East in a reunion with Eriksson.
