Rumour Reel: Griezmann to City, while Eagles swoop for Schneiderlin and Carroll eyes exit

Coral’s rumour reel

Despite boasting Sergio Aguero in his ranks, Pep Guardiola appears to be already planning for the future with Antoine Griezmann to Manchester City linked in today’s back pages.

The Atletico Madrid forward is one of the world’s hottest playing properties and will be hard to prise away from the Vincente Calderon, even with the Etihad outfit’s riches.

Griezmann to Man City?

According to reports, the Sky Blues could be about to spark a major transfer tussle between them and city rivals Manchester United for the signature of Atleti’s Griezmann.

City are rumoured to be ready to offer £70m for the France star who scored 32 goals in all competitions last term.

However, despite City’s financial power, they face a real battle tempting Griezmann away from the Spanish capital. There has long been a plan at Atleti that both Griezmann and Diego Simeone would stay until the club moved into their new stadium and play a campaign in the fresh surroundings.

It would take a bid of truly colossal proportions to prise Griezmann away and, even if his release clause was met, he would not be certain to move.

Eagles swoop for Schneiderlin?

Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace could be eyeing a swoop for out of favour Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin – reports suggest.

Despite being just a third into his contract at Old Trafford, Schneiderlin does not appear to be in manager Jose Mourinho’s plans, after playing just five minutes of Premier League football this term – coming in the August season opener.

The player’s recent misery was compounded by the fact he was hauled off at half-time during United Europa League loss to Fenerbahce.

Pardew knows Schneiderlin from his time at Southampton and a bid of around £15m, recouping some of the £25m the Red Devils paid for him, is thought to be enough to see him move.

Carroll contemplates China move?

According to reports, Andy Carroll could be ready to end his West Ham United career with a lucrative move to China.

The former England player has recorded just four outings this season thanks to knee injuries, and Hammers manager Slaven Bilic could be ready to cut his losses.

West Ham paid £15m for the forward when he left Liverpool, with Chinese clubs now thought to be offering around £20m.

Carroll was reportedly subjected an attempted armed robbery recently and may see a £300k-a-week move to China as a viable way out.
