Jack Wilshere to AC Milan?
Resurgent Italian juggernauts AC Milan seem to be the go-to club to link out-of-favour Premier League midfielders to these days. With Joe Hart on loan at Torino too it’s becoming en-vogue for England players to revive their careers in Serie A.
Arsenal and Three Lions plotter Wilshere is the latest tipped to swap London for Milan and head to the San Siro this summer, when the 24-year-old’s Gunners contract will have just one year left to run.
It’s not clear what Wilshere’s role will be under Arsene Wenger when he returns from what has so far been a successful loan at Bournemouth, after falling down the Emirates pecking order due to niggling injuries.
Wilshere is believed to have picked the Cherries over AC as a loan destination, but could view the Rossoneri as a more appealing permanent option. The Lombardy outfit are now challenging for a top three position and Champions League football, with coach Vincenzo Montella building a spine for the future.
The prospect of playing alongside up and coming stars such as Alessio Romagnoli, Gianluigi Donnarumma, M’Baye Niang and Manuel Locatelli could be enticing for Wilshere, for whom a change of scenery seems to be working.
Man Utd want Thiago Maia
As for incoming Premier League transfers, there could be a real battle for the latest Brazilian wonderkid, with Santos starlet Maia drawing admiring glances from some of Europe’s elite.
It looks as though young Maia, 19, will be able to choose between the riches of Ligue 1’s PSG or a move to England’s top-flight. Two suitors have been named on these shores as Manchester United and Chelsea, with Jose Mourinho primed to wrestle with his former club to capture the highly-rated midfielder.
PSG, who already boast a hefty South American contingent, are reported to have readied a £17m bid for the Brazilian, who was part of the Olympic gold-winning squad in Rio. Though, tabloids reckon the Red Devils and Blues could be preparing to crash the Parisian side’s party.
They may have to act quickly though, as Maia is believed to have told press: “Many players say they want to play at Real Madrid or Barcelona, but I identify myself PSG.”
