Coral’s rumour reel

November can be a nervy time for football fans, as rumours swirl regarding which stars their clubs will sign, or fight to keep, in the winter transfer window. Today’s tantalising gossip includes both of those angles, as Liverpool fight to keep their most brilliant Brazilian, while Victor Lindelof to Man Utd also does the rounds.

But, there’s much more than those transfer tidbits to get your teeth into, so put your feet up, relax and read on…

Victor Lindelof to Man Utd?

Manchester United have been linked to several centre back signings ahead of the opening of the winter transfer window, as both of first pick pairing Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly remain on the treatment table.

This has meant that injury-riddled and impulsive Phil Jones and defensively suspect Marcos Rojo have been drafted in to hold down the Red Devils rearguard, so it’s no wonder Jose Mourinho is said to be scouring the market for a new centre half this Christmas.

Benfica’s Lindelof to Man Utd is the latest rumour, with the Sweden international and 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship winner impressing in Mourinho’s homeland. The robust 22-year-old has also been linked with Chelsea in the past.

The debate has been over whether the Portuguese would opt for experience as many pundits expected, with Jose Fonte and Diego Godin’s names in the hat, or plump for another young prospect. The latest link to Lindelof would seem to point in the latter direction!

Memphis in the middle?

While, on his way out of Old Trafford could be Memphis Depay, with the Dutch wingman failing to get regular Man Utd minutes.

It’s believed compatriot Ronald Koeman covets his compatriot and could bring Memphis to Goodison Park on loan in January, after watching his countryman play for Clockwork Orange against Belgium.

Though Koeman could face stiff competition from Italy, with Roma and AC Milan said to be admirers, but now Serie A champions Juventus have also had their powerful name thrown into the ring.

Liverpool to battle Barca for Coutinho?

Finally, rumours of Barcelona being keen on Philippe Coutinho have resurfaced in timely fashion, after the Brazil playmaker opened scoring for his nation in a 3-0 thrashing of bitter rivals Argentina.

It is thought Liverpool will fight to keep Coutinho by offering a new contract and pay-rise to the Reds maestro, who is not reported to have a release clause. But, will that be enough to keep Barca at bay?
