Coral’s rumour reel
Emirates could be about to welcome a big money signing, with Robert Lewandowski to Arsenal linked in today’s back pages.
With the start of the Premier League campaign kicking off this weekend, Arsene Wenger is keen to add a top class striker to bolster his forward line.
Lewandowski to Arsenal?
Wenger is desperate for a forward that could finally push the Gunners over the line, after a 13-year Premier League trophy drought.
According to reports, his main target is Bayern Munich man Lewandowski, who has stalled on signing a new contract because of his large wage demands.
The Poland international scored 49 goals in all competitions last term, and Wenger has reportedly been an admirer of the lethal marksman since his days at Borussia Dortmund.
However, if he fails to bring the Munich man in, Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann could be an option. The Euro 2016 top scorer has a reported release clause of £85.5m.
With Arsenal failing with a bid for Alexandre Lacazette, according to reports, it looks likely the North London side will head into the coming campaign with just one out-in-out striker, Olivier Giroud.
No go Nkoudou?
Spurs reportedly thought they had reached an agreement with Marseille for winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou. However, reports now suggest the proposed switch is on the rocks after a disagreement over the payment structure.
Tottenham’s Clinton Njie was supposed to move in the opposite direction and has already obtained his work permit, according to reports.
Marseille have reportedly grown frustrated with Spurs chairmen Danial Levy after he attempted to renegotiate the fee, despite Nkoudou passing his medical almost three weeks ago.
The deal could be worth in the region of £4.5m rising to £11m with possible add-ons, for the 21-year-old who scored 10 goals last term in all competitions.
Palace pounce for Opare
Alan Pardew is among one of many Premier league bosses looking at Ghana international and former Real Madrid Castilla right back, Daniel Opare.
The 25-year-old will reportedly be allowed to leave Augsburg on a free this summer, after just a year in the Bundesliga.
Opare is a superb dribbler, has a strong passing range and dominates aerial duels. However, doubts surrounding his discipline and concentration have plagued his career and development.
Crystal Palace will have to do battle with Middlesbrough, Bournemouth and West Bromwich Albion – according to reports.
