Coral’s rumour reel

It’s here, the January window has flung open, bringing with it a fresh winter wind flowing with gossip.

The Hammers appear to be planning for life without sulking Dimitri Payet, with Gylfi Sigurdsson to West Ham United linked on today’s back pages.

Sigurdsson to West Ham?

If you’ve watched Slaven Bilic’s Hammers this season, you’ll know Payet’s body language and meagre efforts on the field have long signalled the Frenchman’s unhappiness – despite receiving a loyalty bonus in September of last year rumoured to be £1m.

So, when Bilic revealed Payet wants out earlier this week, it came as no surprise that a number of potential replacements emerged quickly.

The leading candidate of which is Iceland’s Sigurdsson. According to reports, the east London outfit are willing to cough up £20m to land the Swansea man and slot him straight into Payet’s berth.

Sigurdsson is the Welsh side’s leading light with five goals and eight assists this term, but will not be let go on the cheap.

In a tough relegation battle, new Swansea boss Paul Clement will do everything in his power to keep Sigurdsson at the Liberty Stadium.

Carrasco to the Gunners?

Arsenal are reportedly ready to make an audacious move for Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco.

Reports emerging from Spain suggest the Gunners are in the race to capture the Belgian, who has netted 10 goals this term.

The uncertainty surrounding the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, yet to sort out their contract renewals, has likely seen Arsenal look for potential alternatives should they leave.

However, Arsene Wenger and his notoriously tight purse strings might be daunted by the fact Carrasco has a reported release clause of £85m. Unlikely to splurge that sort of cash, Wenger will hope talks can begin with an offer well below the release clause.
