Rumour reel: is Ronaldo going back to Old Trafford?

CR7 wants out of Spain, and sharpish

So, it looks like there was truth in the story suggesting Cristiano Ronaldo wanted out of Real Madrid. There will be no lack of interest in CR7 now that he is back on the market, with a return to Manchester United dominating the gossip columns.

Despite signing a five-year deal in November, it’s believed Ronaldo doesn’t want to stay in Spain because he’s upset at being accused of tax fraud by some. We’ll steer well clear of giving our opinions on that one, but what we will cover here is the latest round of transfer news.

Mourinho to swoop on Ronaldo and Dier

Jose Mourinho has been nothing if not ambitious with his summer transfer targets, declaring his interest in Real Madrid’s Welsh star Gareth Bale. The former Spurs player doesn’t seem keen, but a move for Cristiano Ronaldo would certainly help The Special One get over it. It’s all very much rumour at present, and it wouldn’t surprise us to see the player make a u-turn before the end of August, but Jose fancies splashing the cash on Ronaldo and Eric Dier. The latter has had a £50m price tag slapped on his head by Tottenham, but that won’t scare the Old Trafford money men, who fancy a shot at winning the Champions League.

Chelsea target Juve defender

The future of the Chelsea attack remains up in the air at the minute, with Diego Costa being forced out the door, but manager Antonio Conte has been making moves to bolster his defence as he aims for two in-a-row in the Premier League, and to hold his own in the Champions League. They’ve tabled a £55.2m bid for Juventus left-back Alex Sandro, but saw it thrown out by the Italians. Juve bosses did admit however that they’d be powerless to stop the player leaving if he saw his long-term future in London. Reading between the lines, they’re saying to Abramovich, dig a bit deeper into those pockets. We’ll keep you updated on that one.

Arsenal to better Everton

Everton have been busy as they aim to build on last season’s impressive efforts, and it seems like money is no object at Goodison Park. There’s a line fans never thought they’d read. The Toffees look set to lose star striker Romelu Lukaku, and could also miss out on a replacement in AC Milan’s M’Baye Niang. The 22-year-old caught the eye at Watford, and Everton see potential to improve him, but they now look locked in a bidding war with Arsenal. Wenger also has his eye on Niang, and you’d fancy him to pull weight over Ronald Koeman if it came to finances. The starting price is believed to be £16m.
