Preview and tips ahead of the finale…

All good things must come to an end. It’s been a tremendous week, but the final day of Royal Ascot has arrived.

However, don’t be too sad, as there’s a number of cracking races in store, topped off by the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.

The ITV racing crew are in place at the Berkshire racecourse. And the Coral News Team also weigh in with extended thoughts on three of the renewals. And there are six tips overall for good measure.

Diamond Jubilee Stakes, 4:20pm

It’s one of the most prestigious races of the entire week and there’s an absolutely stellar line-up for the 6f renewal. Some of the best sprinters in the business are included but it’s the Australian flyer Redkirk Warrior we’ve plumped for.

Clive Cox’s charge Harry Angel heads the betting but his four failures here are marks against the four-year-old. Aidan O’Brien’s Merchant Navy also has major claims, but it’s the son of Notnowcato that catches the eye.

He’s won two Group 1 in his last two starts down under. And conditions on the day will suit him perfectly. He’s already beaten Merchant Navy at Flemington back in March and can finish ahead of the pack again here.

Wokingham Stakes, 5:00pm

It’s a bit of a risk considering his lack of race time but John Gosden’s Dreamfield is a lovely price for such a quality horse.

It’s a big handicap field but if he can steer clear of trouble he should hose up in this 6f sprint. After well over a year out with a pelvis injury, he returned with a win at Ascot over the distance.

The four-year-old was unbeaten in two before a 569 break. He’ll have plenty of dangers to contend with throughout the field. But if he runs anywhere near his potential, he’s most definitely got Group horse claims.

Hardwicke Stakes, 3:05pm

If there’s a short-priced NAP of the day, then surely Crystal Ocean in the Hardwicke Stakes gets the nod?

Sir Michael Stoute has a phenomenal record in this race and will look to win it once more with his stellar four-year-old.

Second in the St Leger at Doncaster, he’s unbeaten this season, winning at Sandown and Newbury. He hosed up last time out and Ryan Moore has been on board both times. Moore rides him again in this renewal and that solidifies the pick.
