Royal Ascot 2015: Coronation Stakes preview (16.20)

Found ran a blinder when runner-up in the Irish 1000 Guineas and can go one better to land the Group 1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot and provide trainer Aidan O’Brien with his third winner of the 1m contest.

The filly won two of her three starts as a juvenile, and looked a top notch prospect when landing the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac over 1m at Longchamp.

After taking a keen hold in midfield, Found was produced to take up the running inside the final furlong by Ryan Moore and quickened clear to beat Ervedya by 2 1/2 lengths.

It was a most impressive display, and one which saw found installed as ante post favourte for the English 1000 Guineas and Oaks.

However, the daughter of Galileo suffered a setback in the build up to the former and then got beaten on her belated comeback when sent off favourite for a 7f Group 3 contest at the Curragh and finishing a two length runner-up to Iveagh Gardens on unsuitable heavy ground.

Found duly came on a ton for that outing, and failed by just 1/2 a length to overhaul Pleascach in the Irish 1000 Guineas last month.

That run should have put her spot on and, with underfoot conditions now ideal, Found can return to winning ways.

Although beaten in the Boussac by Found, French raider Ervedya looks the obvious danger having won both her starts this season in good style.

The Jean Claude-Rouget trained filly was particularly impressive in the last of those when showing a blistering turn of foot to come from way off the pace and beat Irish Rookie by 3/4 of a length in the Group 1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches at Longchamp.

It was a performance which oozed class, and although Ervedya is yet to race on fast ground there is no reason to believe that the daughter of Siyouni will not prove just as effective on it.

Another big player who brings classic form into the contest is the Jim Bolger trained Lucida.

The filly put in an excellent effort when beaten just 3/4 of a length by Legatissimo in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket, with the pair pulling 4 1/2 lengths clear of the third home to give the form a rock solid look.

Lucida also showed a good attitude to go down fighting, and repeat of that effort would give the daughter of Sharmadal every chance of providing Bolger with a fourth winner of this contest.

Coral betting tip: Found can be a real discovery for punters who pile money on her.
