Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar, Suarez 2/1 for World Cup top-scorer
Published:Coral continues their World Cup countdown, with only days left before the big kick-off in Brazil. Our penultimate special is for Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Neymar, or Luis Suarez to be top goal scorer at 2/1 (dead heat rules).
With World Cup kick-off imminent, all eyes in Brazil will be focused on the fantastic four.
After shaking off an injury, Ronaldo arrives in South America as a double winner. In a hugely successful season, the Portugal captain lifted the 2014 Champions League trophy with Real Madrid in his country of birth, and also picked up the FIFA Ballon d’Or.
Having finished the campaign as he means to go on, Ronaldo will be hungry to prove he can deliver for country as well as club. He was rampant for Real this term, netting an incredible 55 times in 45 games. With 49 goals in 110 appearances for the Navigators, who are 9/4 to qualify for the knockout phase, the former Manchester United man is 4/1 to be top scorer in Group G.
Ronaldo’s eternal rival and Ballon d’Or competitor, Messi, has a similarly outstanding record for his club this campaign, after bagging 36 goals in 39 games. With the diminutive Barca star leading the way, Argentina are 4/1 to return the World Cup to South American soil.
Messi’s Catalan club-mate Neymar is also in fine form, and has been on target 31 times in 49 caps for the host nation, Argentina’s bitter regional rivals Brazil. With such impressive firepower behind them, Big Phil Scolari’s Samba Boys are 3/1 to lift the trophy in front of home fans.
Completing the fabulous foursome is controversial Liverpool and Uruguay striker Suarez. Linked with a move to join Ronaldo at Madrid, he will be chomping at the bit to out-perform his potential new work-mate. The former Ajax forward is La Celeste’s record scorer, and will be aiming to guide them out of Group D. Facing Italy, England and Costa Rica, they are 2/1 to emerge as winners of this Pool.
