Romford best bets: Magnum to prove too Swift for rivals

Swift Magnum can roar to success at Romford

T3 Swift Magnum has an excellent record at Romford and looks terrific value to further enhance it with victory in the 575m Stayers Open there tonight at 22:11 on a 13-race mixed card screened live on Racing Post Greyhound TV (Sky 468, Freesat 250).

Ernie Gaskin’s charge has won five of his nine starts in Open contests at the venue, is unbeaten in two starts over this trip and has a 50 per cent strike rate when sporting the white jacket (two from four).

In the last of those he produced a slick 13.58 sectional to make all and score by 1/2 a length in a time of 35.75.

That reads well in the context of this contest and a similar split should be more than good enough to see Swift Magnum clear the two runners on his inside, grab the rail and turn the first bend in front.

If doing so he is a really tenacious sort to pass once on the bunny and can fend of all challengers to land the spoils.

Chopchop Rose drawn to bloom

Gaskin also looks to hold leading claims of landing the A1 earlier on the card at 21:40 with T6 Chopchop Rose.

The bitch is a lightly-raced sort who has quickly made an impact in four starts at the venue, winning two of her four starts to rise through the ranks from A3 company into top grade.

She is blessed with tons of early pace and clocked impressive identical splits of 3.76 in registering her two victories.

A reproduction can see her lead up the outer and turn the bend in front to notch another trap-to-line success.

Killinan Infanta can kick rivals into touch

In the Coral Backs Children With Cancer UK Bitches Open (21:56), T1 Killinan Infanta looks the one to be on.

David Pruhs’ bitch is a really smart sort when timing it right at the lids as she showed when making all to beat the classy Droopys Counrty at Peterborugh earlier in the year.

She is also two from three at this venue and showed tremendous battling qualities in the last of those to fend of mutiple-winning track specialist Marmalady by a short-head.

The key will be to her turning the first bend in front and with a 3.70 sectional to her name I think Killinan Infanta can do just that and boss proceedings form the off.

Ballymac Zara worth a bet

T1 Ballymac Zara is also trained by Pruhs and looks drawn to cash-in on a drop in class and get back to winning ways in the Coral Supports The RGOA Standard Open (22:26).

The daughter of Ballymac Vic is yet to get her head in front in three starts at the venue but ran a cracker at it when last seen in action and finishing a 3 1/2 length runner-up to the prolific Evanta Fantasy.

She didn’t get the best of runs from trap four but has been crying out for the rails and now gets the red jacket.

Ballymac Zara has won her last two starts from the one box in sprint Opens at Peterborough and this is less competitive than the Evanta Fantasy race.

If trapping in her best fashion she can put her terrific early pace to good use and make all.
