Preview and odds for the Old Firm clash

It is shaping up to be the closest title race in years in the Scottish Premiership and we have Rangers v Celtic betting tips for the third Old Firm clash of the season.

Only three points separates the two Glasgow juggernauts at the top of the table and the defending champions will be desperate to get on level terms with the Bhoys on home soil.

The hosts are shading favouritism at 29/20, while Celtic can be supported at 15/8 for back-to-back Old Firm victories in Rangers v Celtic betting tips.

Sunday’s game at Ibrox kicks off at midday and is live on Sky Sports.

Fortress Ibrox gives Gers the edge

Celtic are the only domestic team to beat Rangers in 2022 and they have lost just two of their 31 Scottish Premiership games all season.

Giovanni Van Bronkhorst’s side have lost just three times at home all season and none of those have been in the league and only one to a fellow Scottish club. That shows how much of a fearsome venue Ibrox has become for visiting sides.

Having ended Celtic’s dominance in the Scottish Premiership last season with a first title in 10 years, they started the season as the team to beat north of the border and showed they meant business when winning the first Old Firm scrap of the season in August.

Although losing in Van Bronkhorst’s first Old Firm fixture at Parkhead in February, returning to Ibrox is a huge advantage, and a victory here would be the perfect way to send them into a Europa League quarter-final full of confidence.

They are unbeaten in four home Old Firm contests and having kept a clean sheet in three of those and their last two home fixtures this term, are 11/5 to keep Celtic quiet once again.

Rangers have hit at least two in six of their last seven home fixtures and are 6/4 to add to that record in Rangers v Celtic betting tips, while Rangers to win or draw, Celtic under 0.5 goals in the first half and under 3.5 goals in the match is an interesting #YourCall option at 11/8.

Bhoys bouncing ahead of latest Old Firm instalment

Although Rangers will be clinging to their home record against the Hoops, they meet a Celtic side who have won 14 of their last 17 in all competitions and arrive at Ibrox having won four on the spin.

They have scored 12 goals while conceding just once in those four contests and Ange Postecoglou has delighted neutrals and Celtic fans alike with the attacking football he has got his side playing this season.

Elimination from the Europa Conference League means the Bhoys can fully focus on regaining the Scottish Premiership title and they are the odds-on 4/11 favourites to lift the trophy at the end of the season.

Georgios Giakoumakis hit a hat-trick against Ross County last time and is 9/2 to break the deadlock in Rangers v Celtic betting tips. The Greek forward has scored five in his last two in a Celtic shirt and he has notched up eight in just 14 appearances this season.

Israeli youngster Liel Abada has made an impact at Parkhead in his first season at Celtic. He has nine goals this term and is 16/5 to add to his tally at any time, while it is 10/1 for him to score in a Celtic victory with both teams finding the net.

Head-to-head

There has been one victory apiece in their Scottish Premiership meetings this year with home advantage paying dividend on both occasions.

Rangers edged the first meeting at Ibrox 1-0 and a repeat of that scoreline is 7/1, while Celtic struck three unanswered goals past their rivals at Parkhead and over 2.5 goals for the visitors here is 5/1 in Rangers v Celtic betting tips.

Three of the last four head-to-head contests have been won to nil, while three of the last four played at Ibrox have seen the hosts pick up all three points while keeping a clean sheet. That could be a tempting option here and is chalked up at 13/4, while Celtic to win to nil for the second successive Old Firm game is 4/1.

The last draw between these two was five games ago, with a share of the points priced up at 23/10 in Rangers v Celtic betting tips. That one finished 1-1 and the same scoreline is 5/1 this time around.
