Radamel returns! Chelsea bring Falcao back to the Premier League

Chelsea, 8/5 with Coral to retain the Premier League, have signed Colombia centre forward Radamel Falcao from Monaco on another season-long loan, following his unsuccessful stint at Manchester United last term.

“I am very happy to be joining Chelsea and can’t wait to start training and help with our aim of retaining the league title and being successful in Europe,” stated the Colombia frontman on his arrival to Stamford Bridge.

“If I can help Falcao reach his level again, I will do it,” said Blues boss Jose Mourinho. “It hurts me that people in England think that the real Falcao is the one we saw at Manchester United.”

Stamford Bridge outfit Chelsea brought in Diego Costa last season to be their main man up front, though the former Atletico Madrid man struggled for fitness at times and to shoulder all of the responsibility, despite scoring 20 goals for the club.

Falcao arrives still recovering from a knee ligament injury, which ultimately kept him out of the World Cup last summer. Typically, it takes roughly one year to recover from such a grievance, so Chelsea may have timed it right.

Arsenal’s Theo Walcott has had a similar injury, but returned in explosive fashion at the top of his game. Surrounded by the best medical team in world sport, Falcao can follow suit with a similarly devastating impact, in a system which suits him better than the one he was being utilised in at Man Utd.

At 29, he is arguably entering into the peak of his career, however, nobody needs reminding of the demolition job he pulled on the Blues in the UEFA Super Cup, when Falcao hit a hat-trick.

There is no doubting his scoring ability, and Mourinho knows that if he can get Falcao firing again, Chelsea win the league.

Seemingly looking like they’ve started their summer business in the same style as last year, no doubt more signings will follow. With Didier Drogba having moved on, and Loic Remy linked with a move to West Ham, the Blues will no doubt bring in another frontman and a similar amount of quality as last season.
