Racing Tips: Wind Chimes, Ripp Orf and Dream Of Dreams set for wins?
Published:Odds, tips and preview for today’s racing
The build-up to Sunday’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe begins this afternoon, with seven live races to whet the appetite from Ascot, Newmarket and Redcar.
ITV will have coverage of the Sun Chariot Stakes, the Cumberland Lodge Stakes and the Bengough Stakes throughout the day. The Coral News Team have previewed those contests, alongside the other four, below.
British-trained runners are dominating the market for the Arc. But it’s a French-saddled raider who’s favourite for Britain’s only Group 1 this afternoon.
That could be significant – with five Sun Chariot Stakes winners hailing from across the English Channel since 2009. That Wind Chimes is trained by Andre Fabre is of particular interest, given the Frenchman’s scarcity in sending runners to this country.
The three-year-old bolted up at Deauville in August before missing out by a head to Recoletos in a strongly run Group 1 contest at Longchamp last time. She has the best form in the race and can edge Laurens here.
There’s plenty to like about the chances of Dream Of Dreams in the Bengough Stakes. Sir Michael Stoute’s charge is a previous Listed winner and has placed in his three most recent starts in Group company.
The four-year-old has threatened to get his head in front on a number of occasions this term without managing to do so.
Favourite Limato is not at his peak despite back-to-back wins, while a number of these runners have finished behind the jolly in recent times. That makes Dream Of Dreams an enticing proposition at a nice price.
Some horses just love it at certain tracks. For Ripp Orf, it’s Ascot where the magic happens. David Elsworth’s progressive charge has raced three times over course and distance in big-field handicaps, winning twice.
To put that into some context, our pick has taken on 84 runners in a trio of races and beaten 82 of them. That’s some form – and it’s a record which is guaranteed to help him at his favourite hunting ground this afternoon.
Apprentice Jason Watson keeps getting a tune out of the four-year-old, and his 3lb allowance should help the raider’s cause once again.
