Cape Hideaway and Babeny Bridge among Wednesday tips for Catterick and Ffos Las

Cape Hideaway has crystal clear claims at Catterick
Cape Hideaway ran a cracker when runner-up last time out and can go on better to land the spoils in the 2m 3f conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle on today’s card at Catterick (13.00).
Trained by Mark Walford, the four-year-old was a fair performer on the level who after shaping with promise in two of his first three starts over hurdles posted a much improved effort on handicap debut at Uttoxeter last month when second of 12 of Oskar’s Eva.
After being held-up in mid-division, Cape Hideway made good headway three from home and stayed on nicely to be nearest at the finish and beaten 12 lengths.
The gelding was not unduly knocked about once it was clear the winner had flown and Jaunty Thor, who finished nearly 15 lengths behind the selection in fifth, has come out and won twice since to give the form a boost.
It was an effort which suggested Cape Hideaway was a winner waiting to happen and off an unchanged mark this looks a nice opportunity for him to open his account over the obstacles.
Pudsey House each-way value in opener
In the 2m 3f handicap hurdle that gets proceedings underway (12.30), Pudsey House is a fascinating contender on belated return to action following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The gelding was a dual winner in 2013 when owned and trained by John Wade, scoring at Kelso before bolting up by 19 lengths at this venue off a mark of 101.
Pudsey House got up to 115 for the latter and was in the process of running a good race off his revised rating at this track when coming to grief at the last when four lengths down in second place.
Then nine-year-old then failed to shine in his next three and has subsequently been off the track for nearly two years.
However, as a result Pudsey House now returns to action off a reduced rating of 105 and that makes him well-treated on his first start for Chris Grant and look worth an each-way wager at the odds on offer.

Babeny Bridge the standout bet at Ffos Las
Babeny Bridge shaped really well when last seen in action and can take advantage of what looks a lenient mark to land the 2m 7f handicap hurdle on today’s card at Ffos Las (13.50).
The gelding was a multiple point winner who after shaping nicely on debut for trainer Nick Williams when third at Ludlow failed by just a head to overhaul Deciding Moment in a seven-runner novice hurdle at Worcester back in May.
Babeny Bridge stayed on gamely in the latter and the front two pulled 16 lengths clear of the third Home Truckers Glory.
The selection now meets that rival on 3lb better terms and the fourth home Our Reward, who was beaten a further 28 lengths, has come out and won since to be rated 121.
That gives the form a solid look and suggests the assessor has taken a real chance in allotting Babeny Bridge an opening handicap mark of just 112.
The seven-year-old also remains unexposed and open to further improvement and has the services of Lizzie Kelly in the saddle whose claim takes another 5lb off his back.
Hadfield weighted to go well
Hadfield looks nicely treated on the pick of his form and decent each-way value in the 2m 4f handicap hurdle (14.50).
The gelding won two of his four races last year when in the care of John Ferguson and in the first of those at Worcester beat Chic Name by 4 1/2 lengths.
Chic Name was won since and also run a cracker finish runner-up to Adrienne Du Pont in a Grade 1 juvenile hurdle at Chepstow to now be rated 136.
That reads well in the context of this contest and Hadfield went on to register a cosy two length success on handicap debut at Carlisle off a mark of 120.
The four-year-old was then far from disgraced when fourth at Wetherby off 127 but failed to sparkle on his first start for new handler Neil Mulholland on return to action at the same venue in October after 364 days on the sidelines when finishing a well-beaten eighth.
However, Hadfield is entitled to strip much fitter for that outing and has since been dropped 3lb to 122.
That makes him look on a potentially handy mark, especially on his defeat of Chic Name, and the stable is now in good form.
