Quiet Reflection primed for Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock

Quiet Reflection looks an exciting young sprinter and decent value to land the Group 2 Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock (15:45).

The Karl Burke trained filly has won four of her five starts, and had some top class form as a juvenile when winning the Listed Harry Roseberry Stakes at Ayr impressively by four lengths and putting in a polished performance to land the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes at Ascot by a cosy 2 1/2 lengths.

Quiet Reflection travelled strongly on each occasion before quickening nicely to get the job done, and looked as good as ever on seasonal reappearance when landing a Group 3 at Chantilly by a head.

Judged on that display, Quiet Reflection looks destined for big things this season, and connections say that she come on a bundle for that outing.

Owners hopeful for a big run

Simon Bridge, one of the directors of the Ontoawinner syndicate that own the filly, reports her to be in tip top shape ahead of this assignment.

He exclusively told Coral’s horse racing correspondent David Metcalf: “Quiet Reflection went to Chantilly and conditions weren’t perfect and she needed it more than we thought, so in the circumstances she did well to win. Since then she has improved a lot and is in great order and has been working well at home.

“She is looking a lot stronger physically and mentally tougher, but the Sandy Lane is Group 2 in which some big owners have representatives. I would like to think that she will be in their fighting with them, and am hopeful of a big run.”

Royal Ascot on the agenda

“If all goes to plan it will then be either the Commonwealth Cup or Kings’ Stand Stakes at at Royal Ascot, with the former looking the more likely target at this stage,” Bridge added.

“She is also entered in the July Cup, so there are hopefully some exciting times ahead for her enthusiatic owners who will be out in force at Haydock to cheer her on.”

Connections clearly hold Quiet Reflection in the highest regard and, with the yard now in flying form, the daughter of Showcasing can make the most of the 3lb sex allowance she gets from favourite Gifted Master to land the spoils.

Coral’s top tip: Quiet Reflection is clearly extremely well thought of and looks worth a wager to get the better of Gifted Master to land a competitive renewal of the Sandy Lane Stakes.
