QPR look to tame Wolves in Championship clash

In Saturday’s early Championship kick-off, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s QPR host a visiting Wolves side which they already toppled this season on the road, as they seek further fixture success at Loftus Road this time out.

The home side currently sit five places and three points adrift of their next opponents in the second tier standings, and their latest fixture signals life after Charlie Austin, following the striker’s switch to Premier League club Southampton.

QPR are 5/4 with Coral for a third victory over Wolves in four meetings, while Kenny Jackett’s visitors are 23/10 to triumph on their travels, with both sides in search of crucial points at a decisive stage of the campaign.

Washington relishing Rangers move

With former star striker Austin having finally made a move back to the top-flight, QPR wasted no time in acquiring a replacement, as they snapped up Conor Washington from Peterborough, and he is set to make his debut against Wolves.

The 23-year-old arrives in the Rangers ranks alongside current attacking talents Matt Phillips, who is 15/8 to strike anytime, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas (15/8 anytime) and Sebastian Polter (11/2 first scorer), after declaring Hasselbaink was key to such a switch.

“As a striker, having someone like Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink here as manager was a massive pull for me,” stated Washington. “He’s been there, seen it and done it at the very highest level and that can only benefit me as a player.

“I feel I’ve improved as a player over the last 18 months. My mentality has changed and I’m a better player for it. But I also feel there’s a lot more to come from me and I believe I can properly go on to fulfil my potential at QPR.

“I know I’ve still got a long way to go in my development but I’m relishing the chance to prove my worth. I’ve proved I can do it at every level I’ve played at so far, so I don’t see any reason why I can’t do it here with QPR.”

Wolves want winnings ways to continue

The visitors arrive at Loftus Road after securing four wins from their last five Championship outings, but suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Cardiff City most recently, while QPR look to end a hapless run which has seen them prevail just once in their nine games on all fronts.

A 3-0 victory over Rotherham got Rangers back to winnings ways, and they are 17/4 to emerge victorious this weekend with both teams scoring, though the Wanderers hold enough firepower to secure three points.

Menacing marksman Michal Zyro is 11/2 to open proceedings, while loanee Adam Le Fondre is 6/4 to strike anytime and midfielder James Henry is 7/2 to make his mark on the scoresheet.
